1. Items: a. Radar and laser radar systems designed or modified for use in “missiles”;
2. b. Precision tracking systems, usable for rockets, missiles, or unmanned aerial vehicles capable of achieving a “range” equal to or greater than 300 km, as follows:
3. b.1. Tracking systems which use a code translator installed on the rocket or unmanned aerial vehicle in conjunction with either surface or airborne references or navigation satellite systems to provide real-time measurements of in-flight position and velocity;
4. b.2. Range instrumentation radars including associated optical/infrared trackers with all of the following capabilities:
5. b.2.a. Angular resolution better than 1.5 milliradians;
6. b.2.b. Range of 30 km or greater with a range resolution better than 10 m rms;
7. b.2.c. Velocity resolution better than 3 m/s.

(1) This entry does not control airborne civil weather radar conforming to international standards for civil weather radars provided that they do not incorporate any of the following: (a) Phased array antennas; (b) Frequency agility; (c) Spread spectrum; or (d) Signal processing “specially designed” for the tracking of vehicles. (2) Items in 6A108.a that are “specially designed” or modified for “missiles” or for items on the U.S. Munitions List are “subject to the ITAR” (see 22 CFR parts 120 through 130).
